Kahalu’u Bay was designed for “All Creatures Great and Small”, a 2023 Artists’ Contest theme for the Big Island Art Fair. This represents the humorous element of this piece, that the whale should be the great creature, and due to perspective of the image, is the small creature instead. That left the Yellow Tang, iconic fish of Kahalu’u Bay in Kona on the Big Island, to dominate in size!
