A World Without Alzheimer's
From dark to medium to light, purples are the color associated with the disease. They swirl up to the center of interest, a creamy background with green and gold accents, representing the World without Alzheimer’s.
This custom designed and hand beaded piece comes with a shadowbox that is wired for wall hanging or for tabletop easel display.
This one of a kind piece is a gift for the first donor of $2,450 to one of my Walk teams. Please contact me for details.
Kahalu'u Bay
The iconic Yellow Tang of Kona swims in the lava cove of Kahalu’u Bay, on the Big Island of Hawai’i.
Point Arena Lighthouse
As Featured Artist Sept 2022 at the Coast Highway Artist Collective, I recreated the iconic Point Arena Lighthouse image. The biggest design challenge was to get the south edge of the cove to be hidden accurately by the green hillside in the forefront. This was the first time that I dealt seriously with perspective.
Shapes In Opaques
Capturing the bold tones of opaque beads, Shapes is an arrangement of blocks of standalone designs. I did not intend for any two of the blocks to relate to any other. But my sense of humor prevailed as is often does in my beadwork. If you find an incomplete triangle, missing its points, you might just find them somewhere else!
Newspaper
What IS black and white and red all over? As colorFULL as my display art usually is, I loved the design challenge of working only with the starkness of black and white and red. My design rule was simple: each Hypar (warped square) has some dimension of black and white rows, and must have at least one red bead. I arranged the squares only to achieve balance with black or white focus. No two squares were designed to interact together, and I suspected there would be some surprises when they were attached. I do love how some of the individual designs flow into each other!
